In Odessa, police officers started proceedings on facts of hooliganism, mass riots and violence against law enforcement officers

According to such articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, events that occurred immediately after the end of the pride parade, which took place in Odessa on August 28, were qualified.

About 20 minutes after the end of the action, a group of provocateurs showed inadequate behavior towards law enforcement officers and in Deribasovskaya threw themselves into a fight with the use of tear gas. The police stopped the attempt to violate law order.

As a result of illegal actions, 29 law enforcement officers received bodily injuries, they were provided with medical assistance.

The event is classified under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 2 of Article 345 (Threat or violence against a law enforcement officer), Part 1 of Article 294 (Mass riots) and Part 4 of Article 296 (Hooliganism). To clarify the circumstances, 51 people were taken to the police department.

“Such actions of provocateurs, obviously, were aimed at trying to shake up the situation in Odessa and to check the strength of representatives of law enforcement agencies. We will give a fundamental assessment of the actions of offenders. It will be a lesson for them. Odesa region has always been and will remain safe for its residents and guests,” said the head of the police of the region Mykola Semynishin.
