Photo exhibition “NATO-Ukraine: Common Values, Common Way” opened at Boryspil Airport
At Boryspil International Airport, a photo exhibition was launched, the purpose of which is to expand citizens' knowledge about NATO standards, the prospects of Ukraine joining it and the advantages of further cooperation of the Alliance with the security and defense forces of Ukraine.
It will be possible to visit the exhibition until October 30, 2021 in the exhibition hall of Terminal D of Boryspil International Airport. After the exposition is completed, the exhibition will be handed over to the forces of the security and defense sector for demonstration in military units, training centers, regional offices and educational institutions.
The exposition is a series of thematic photographs that are united by five common values for Ukraine and NATO: security, freedom, rule of law, equality, democracy.
Director of NATO Information and Documentation Center in Ukraine Vineta Kleine noted that the exhibition is a visual demonstration of the facts of cooperation of the Alliance with Ukraine and its Armed Forces and allows us to look at the Euro-Atlantic integration process from a new angle.
“Values at the core of NATO. Values that were chosen by the Ukrainian people — on the Maidan, in the elections, and during active involvement in processes that provide Ukraine with a place among free and democratic nations. The NATO Information and Documentation Center in Ukraine and the Stratcom Ukraine Center for Strategic Communications organized an exhibition that demonstrates how the State Border Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard of Ukraine implement the values and principles that the Alliance and Ukraine share. After all, through the lenses of cameras, we can clearly show Ukraine's contribution to maintaining international peace and ensuring security, democracy, and the rule of law. I am grateful to everyone who contributed to the exhibition,” said Vineta Kleine.
The exhibition “NATO-Ukraine: common values, common path” allows a new look at Ukraine's integration with NATO. The organizers of the exhibition moved away from the classical coverage of Euro-Atlantic integration around NATO standards, and focused on the fundamental values that NATO and Ukrainian society share, and which Ukraine implements to ensure security and human well-being as a key actor of national security.
“Our goal is to show people that Euro-Atlantic integration and compliance with NATO standards is not just about military cooperation. It is primarily about values: equality, democracy, security, freedom and the rule of law. Ukraine's implementation of these values at the strategic and operational levels is the essence of Euro-Atlantic integration. The exhibition will be interesting and useful to all citizens of Ukraine who do not fully understand the process of integration with NATO and what we as a country are doing to achieve it,” said Oksana Gorbach, Director of StratSom Ukraine Center for Strategic Communications, organizer of the exhibition.
The exhibition is organized with the support of the NATO Information and Documentation Center, as well as the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, which develops strategic communications and pays special attention to the implementation of state policy in the field of Euro-Atlantic integration. Also, strategic communications units of the National Guard of Ukraine and the apparatus of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine joined the organization of the exhibition.
Head of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Support of the Administration of the State Border Service of Ukraine Oleh Primachenko noted that in the national security strategy Euro-Atlantic integration is defined as one of the priorities of national interests and security and provides for the implementation of comprehensive deep transformations that meet the standards and values of the Alliance and are directed to improve the welfare and safety of our citizens.
“Every year, our border guards prove their ability to respond to modern threats and ensure the security of the state border in the best traditions of the Alliance. Today's exhibition is a great opportunity to give citizens the opportunity to see this. The border service is shown here in the photos. Of course, this is a very small part of what is carried out within the framework of the implementation of these values. One of the steps on the way forward to implement five key values in our daily lives. I am sure that the exhibition will allow citizens to pay attention and see for themselves what many talk about, but unfortunately not everyone fully understands.
Today's event is one of the joint steps taken by the Security Committee of the DPS in cooperation with the NATO Information and Documentation Center, as well as with the Strategic Communications Units of the National Guard and the Army of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces on the path of implementation of state policy in the field of Euro-Atlantic integration. In the future, we plan to use the exhibition in other regions of Ukraine. After the airport, it will go to Khmelnytskyi and to other regions of Ukraine,” Oleg Primachenko noted.
Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Taras Shevchenko stressed that the values for NATO countries and organizations are friendship and cooperation for many years.
“It's about strong association, working towards common goals and mutually beneficial cooperation. I think that no one will have any doubt that the values depicted on the posters are absolutely close and important for Ukraine and Ukrainians. It is about freedom, equality, democracy, the rule of law. Therefore, such an emphasis on values is especially important in informing people about NATO and Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic aspirations. And we, as the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, are responsible for coordinating the activities and communication of Euro-Atlantic integration. We are glad that such an exhibition is opening, which will be available to many Ukrainians and foreigners. Therefore, we are grateful to everyone: both the NATO center, and the state bodies and the airport itself, that this event took place,” Taras Shevchenko said.
The opening was attended by representatives of NATO and international organizations, representatives of the State Security Service, NGU, Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as heads of Euro-Atlantic integration of agencies of the security and defense sector.
