Ukraine and the UK plan to hold the first large-scale exercises “COSSACK MACE”
This year's exercises will involve military personnel from the UK, USA, Denmark, Sweden, and Canada. Ukraine will be represented by units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service. Last week, representatives of the State Border Guard Service took part in the final planning conference “
COSSACK MACE — 2021”. It was conducted under the guidance of the Training Command of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the basis of the Interdisciplinary Center for the Training of Units and Military Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The conference discussed scenarios for the application of forces and means involved in the exercises. Also, the participants of the conference considered the procedure of organization and implementation of communication between Ukrainian units and units of NATO countries, carried out logistic calculations.
Representatives of the military training operation UNIFIER stressed that the planning of the exercises is carried out as part of the study of the military decision-making process in accordance with NATO standards. The tasks of the units in defense and offensive will also be implemented according to NATO standards. The exercises should increase the level of interaction between the components of the defense sector of Ukraine and improve the interoperability of Ukrainian military units with units of the North Atlantic Alliance and NATO partners.
We note that the organizers of the exercises “COSSACK MACE” (“Cossack Mace”) are Ukraine and Great Britain. The purpose of the joint multinational project is to improve the compatibility between the military formations of Great Britain and Ukraine, strengthen relations, joint planning and execution of battalion-tactical operations.
This year's training will be held in the summer on the basis of one of the training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Fighters of the Rapid Response Border Command of the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky Border Detachment of the Southern Regional Administration continue to prepare to participate in this event.
