The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky said on the “Details of the Week” program that within two years Ukraine should build a state border with Russia and Belarus.

“Our main plan is the construction of the state border. Now it is planned to allocate funds to the state budget for 2022. This is our strategic goal for the next two years,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.

The minister also said that the project cost 17 billion hryvnias, but the money in the state budget for 2022 was not taken into account.

“Until the first reading, this amount was not taken into account. We have now submitted proposals and are considering it until the second reading. I am convinced, perhaps, although not the whole amount, but part will be allocated. Because the socio-political situation contributes to this,” says the minister.

According to Monastyrsky, this border will stop illegal migration and smuggling.

“It will make it possible to track, even from Kiev, any movements on the border. Along all thousands of kilometers of the state border between Ukraine-Belarus, Ukraine-Russia is a priority. We see the possibility of building, with proper funding, in two or three years such a state border. And I am convinced that the whole society will unite around this goal,” added Denis Monastyrsky.
