Ukraine and Qatar signed a Memorandum on cooperation in the field of preventing and combating crime

During the visit of the Ukrainian delegation led by President of Ukraine VolodymyrZelensky to the State of Qatar, Minister of InteriorArsenAvakov signed a document with Prime Minister - Minister of Interior Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani.

In addition, the parties signed a Declaration of Intent between the Ministry of Interior of Ukraine and the Ministry of Interior of the State of Qatar on the conclusion of a document on mutual recognition and exchange of national driving licenses.

“Within the framework of the official visit of the President of Ukraine to the State of Qatar, I signed a Memorandum on Cooperation in the field of preventing and combating crime with the Prime Minister - Minister of Interior of Qatar. Ahead is the exchange of experience and effective strengthening of cooperation, ”-ArsenAvakovsaid.

The Minister noted that the dialogue that the Ukrainian and Qatari parties started last time has its own development. This applies to cooperation in the police, economic and military spheres.

“Our bilateral relations with Qatar have a great potential. We have signed a number of intergovernmental agreements, which will be a good continuation of our bilateral cooperation, ”- the Minister said.

At the same time, Prime Minister of Qatar - Minister of Interior Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani noted that he highly appreciates Ukraine's readiness to support Qatar in hosting the FIFA World Cup, which will be held in 2022. He told that, the Qatari party will soon send a response on the format of cooperation and support during the championship.

The Ukrainian and Qatari parties also discussed another vector of cooperation – combating cybercrime.

Recall, that Qatar became the first country in the Middle East with which Ukraine launched  a visa-free regime.

Earlier, Ukraine and Qatar signed a Declaration on police cooperation.
