In Zhytomyr, police investigators exposed an organized group in fraud for 14 million hryvnias
On May 19, investigators of the Criminal Investigation Department in the sphere of economic activity of the Criminal Investigation Department of the GUNP announced the suspicion of committing a number of crimes against three residents of Zhytomyr. It was established that the chief accountant of the enterprise and two of her accomplices as a result of fraud and theft seized the property of a forestry industry enterprise, the founders of which were foreigners.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out under the prompt support of the employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Zhytomyr region of the DSR NPU under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office in the Zhytomyr region according to the statement of two Turkish citizens who registered sawmill and planing production in the village of Narodichi in 2012.
In 2020, due to subjective and objective circumstances, the owners of the enterprise had to return to their homeland, entrusting the conduct of affairs to intermediaries.
As it was established during the investigation, the chief accountant of the enterprise, having attracted two more assistants, over the course of a year and a half carried out a series of targeted actions to seize other people's property. In total, the amount of losses is about 14 million hryvnias.
Members of the criminal group, performing predetermined functions, convinced the owner of the enterprise of the need to issue them powers of attorney to dispose of property. Such illegal actions became possible due to the inadequate awareness of foreigners in the legal aspects of the legislation of Ukraine. In this way, the suspects managed to sell the vehicles, as well as seize other valuable equipment and inventory.
In order to cover up their criminal actions, the suspects fired all the workers, providing themselves with uncontrolled and unhindered access to the production area and with the aim of later obtaining the right to dispose of it.
At the moment, three members of the criminal group, the organizer and two accomplices, have been notified of suspicion of committing the offenses provided for in part 4 of Art. 27 (Types of accomplices), part 4 of Art. 190 (Fraud), Part 5 of Art. 185 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. And therefore may face punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 12 years with confiscation of property.
