In Zaporizhia, a driver was detained for threatening violence against a police officer
Inadequate behavior, obscene swearing and threats of physical abuse were recorded by the body camera of a patrol police officer who was making a protocol for violating traffic rules in relation to the owner of the “BMW”. The latter is detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Code.
On December 29, after 15 o'clock on Ladozhskaya street, an outfit of patrol police stopped a BMW X3 car, driven by a citizen born in 1984, for violation of traffic rules.
The driver's reaction was sharp and aggressive. Before that, he had signs of drug intoxication. The man categorically refused to undergo an examination by a narcologist in a medical institution and law enforcement officers removed him from the right to drive a vehicle.
During the preparation of a police protocol on an administrative offense under Part 1 of Article 130 (Driving vehicles by persons in a state of alcohol, drug or other intoxication) of the KuPAP, the BMW driver threatened the patrol with physical abuse and even murder of his loved ones. Illegal actions of the car owner were recorded by a body camera. The investigative and operational team of the Zaporizhzhya district police department was called to the scene. The videos were removed as physical evidence.
Investigators initiated criminal proceedings on the basis of Part 1 of Art. 345 “Threat or violence against an employee of a law enforcement agency” of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The defendant was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
It turned out that the owner of the SUV was repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility for violation of traffic rules. In addition, in 2021, a protocol for driving while intoxicated was already drawn up for him. Thus, the driver of the vehicle faces not only punishment for committing a criminal offense. In accordance with the legislation, a person who has twice been subject to administrative penalties for driving vehicles while intoxicated may receive a penalty in the form of a fine of three thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of ten years and with the confiscation of the vehicle.
