Members of an organized group of drug addicts will be tried in Zaporizhzhia
The defendants distributed narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances on the territory of Zaporizhia and neighboring regions. Cannabis, amphetamine and ecstasy pills were sold through bookmarks, which they carried in their own cars. Their illegal activities were stopped by the operatives of the Zaporizhzhya Drug Crime Control Department together with the investigators last summer. At the moment, the indictment against the members of the group is directed to the court.
The drug business was organized by a 22-year-old local resident. Together with her 26-year-old roommate, she created and administered four online stores selling cannabis, amphetamine and ecstasy pills. For the sale of prohibited substances, the leader of the group attracted two men, born in 1993 and 1995.
The criminals sold drugs and psychotropic substances through “bookmarks”, which they carried on their own cars, while constantly changing the license plates of vehicles to conspire their illegal activities. Money for the “goods” was received on electronic wallets. After payment, customers were sent photos of the location of the “bookmark” and their coordinates.
During the sanctioned searches, the police seized cannabis, ecstasy pills, LSD brands, bank cards, car numbers, SIM cards and packaging materials from the defendants, and the activities of drug stores were blocked.
At the moment, the investigators have completed the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings, and the indictment has been sent to the court for consideration on the merits. Violators face imprisonment for up to 12 years with confiscation of property. Their actions are qualified by a number of articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 2 of Article 27 — types of accomplices; Part 3 of Article 307 — illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues committed by an organized group; Part 2 of Article 306 — use of funds obtained from the illegal circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues, precursors, poisonous or potent substances or poisonous or potent drugs; Part 1 of Article 263 — illegal handling of weapons, ordnance or explosives.
