On August 23, 2014, at about 10 am in the area of Lysychy, Amvrosievsky district, there was a combat clash between units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Territorial Defense and the State Border Service of Ukraine with armed persons moving in a column (approximately 10 units of equipment). A fierce battle ensued. During the battle, Nikolay Nikolenko and Alexey Vasilchenko bravely and heroically, side by side with their brothers, repelled the stubborn onslaught of militants. Thanks to the decisive actions of the fighters, the attack of the enemy was repelled and the further movement of the column into the interior of the state was prevented. During the clash, Ukrainian fighters managed to destroy 2 KamAZ militants. Unfortunately, four soldiers were injured. Two of them could not be saved.
Sergeant Nikolai Nikolenko was born on June 21, 1986 in Amvrosiyivka, Donetsk region. At a young age, the guy remained a round orphan. All my life I accomplished everything on my own. In 2006 he graduated from the Amvrosievsk Vocational Lyceum with the specialty “tractor-machinist of agricultural production, locksmith for the repair of agricultural machinery and equipment, driver of motor vehicles”.
After serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in September 2008, Nikolai continued his military service under contract in the Donetsk Border Detachment. In 1999, Alexey graduated from the Uspenkivsk secondary school of grades I-III. In November 2000, he was called up for military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The military service was to the liking of the young man. In December 2012, Alexey entered military service under contract to the ranks of the State Border Service of Ukraine. Passing service at the border post “Uspenka”, and then at the border post “Vasylivka” of the border command post “Amvrosiyivka” of the Donetsk detachment, Alexey established himself as a true specialist in his field. He diligently carried out the tasks and always with dignity brought the task entrusted to him to the end.
From the memories of his wife Julia, Alexey was a loving and attentive husband. Since October 2013, Junior Sergeant Vasilchenko was appointed to the position of junior inspector of the border service of the Border Service Inspectors Group of the Border Service Inspectors Branch (place of deployment — n.p. Vasylivka) of the department “Amvrosiyivka” of the Donetsk detachment.
