KHNUVS graduated young lieutenants: 443 specialists enter the service of the Ukrainian people

Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs celebrated a solemn day. 443 graduates — until recently cadets, and from now on — officers of the National Police of Ukraine, graduated from the educational institution in which they mastered their future profession. Seven graduates received diplomas with honors.

The celebrations were attended by the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Criminal Legislation and Anti-Crime of the Committee on Law Enforcement Activities of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, People's Deputy of Ukraine Oleksandr Bakumov, Director of the Department of Defense, Mobilization Work and Interaction with Law Enforcement Agencies of Kharkiv Oleksiy Maksymov, Deputy Head of Department - Head of Department of Regional State Administration BKOZ of the Department of Security Service of Ukraine in Kharkiv Oblast Colonel Oleksandr Kabysh, Deputy Head of Department — Chief Investigator Department of the GUNP in Kharkiv region police colonel Serhiy Chyzh, rector of the university police general of the third rank Valery Sokurenko, rectors of the university of previous years generals Alexander Bandurka and Sergey Gusarov, advisor to the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of KHNUVS Irina Yefrev Mykola Pakhnin, first vice-rector of the university, Colonel of police Dmitry Shvets, vice-rectors Sergey Bortnyk, Mikhail Burdin, Leonid Mogilevsky, Anatoly Klochko, university staff, other honored guests, parents and relatives of graduates.

After the introduction of the Flag of the University and the performance of the Anthem of Ukraine, the participants honored with a minute of silence the memory of all citizens who paid with their lives for the right of Ukraine to be a state — indivisible and independent, for its peace, tranquility and happy future.

The awarding of diplomas began, in which the honored guests of the holiday took part.

After graduation, the student anthem “Gau de amus” was heard and the dedication to the defenders of law and order took place. At the drum beat, the graduating officers took off their hats and got on their right knee, bowing their heads. Touching each officer's shoulder with a feather, the rector said, “I consecrate.” This is an extremely solemn and symbolic act of consecrating a young man to an adult and courageous defender, a warrior who has sworn all his life to serve the Motherland and his people with faith and truth.

People's Deputy of Ukraine Oleksandr Bakumov addressed the graduates with congratulatory words, who conveyed congratulations from the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmitry Razumkov: “Your business is noble. Serve Ukraine honestly and worthily, remain faithful to the Oath, do not betray truth, goodness and honor! Never forget: the trust of citizens is an important component of the daily work of a law enforcement officer. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will continue to make every effort to make you feel socially protected, and the laws governing your activities helped to serve and protect you with honor!”, - the greeting reads.

Addressing the youth, Alexander Bakumov stressed: “Today, on the Day of the National Police of Ukraine, you joined its ranks. I congratulate you on the release, the receipt of long-awaited diplomas. The main thing is that behind this diploma there is real knowledge, because many human destinies will depend on your actions. Therefore, I urge you to be responsible, never to betray the Oath. One wrong step calls into question the work of all employees of the National Police — in terms of their competence, professionalism, and preparedness. Congratulations on the National Police Day, with the graduation of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs! Good health, peace, happiness and harmony to you and your families!”.

Director of the Department of Defense, Mobilization Work and Interaction with Law Enforcement Bodies of Kharkiv Regional State Administration Oleksiy Maksimov conveyed congratulations from the Head of Kharkiv Regional State Administration Aina Tymchuk and noted: “Dear graduates, tomorrow you will start service in the units of the National Police — establish a service for the protection of public order, protect the legitimate interests of our citizens, ensure their safety. Your work is extremely important. Let the principles of legality, justice, responsibility and humanity be the basis of your professional activity. Be worthy of the high mission of the defender of Ukraine!”

Deputy Chief — Head of the Investigative Department of the GUNP in Kharkiv Oblast Serhiy Chyzh conveyed congratulations to graduates from the head of the GUNP in the Kharkiv region Police Colonel Andriy Rubel: “Dismissal is the beginning of your work activity. Serve with honor and dignity. Your knowledge and skills acquired at the university will be a solid foundation for the successful performance of your duties and career growth.”

On behalf of the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of KHNUVS Irina Efremova, Counsellor-Consultant Mykola Pakhnin congratulated the graduates: “The university educated you in the spirit of patriotism and love for your native land, the Ukrainian people. Thanks to teachers, commanders, all tireless mentors, you have gained quality knowledge. They are your main professional weapon, the foundation for personal success and professional growth. I wish you good health, happiness and success in life and profession! May each of you always feel the reliable shoulder of a comrade!”.

On behalf of the parents, the mother of the graduate Alla Perederyev appealed to the management of the educational institution with words of gratitude for science and education of children. She thanked for the proper conditions created at the university for the caring attitude, mentoring and support they felt throughout their years of study.

Police Lieutenant Natalia Rastorgueva on behalf of the university graduates assured that they will be devoted to serving the people, defending the state and multiplying the fame of the university. She also proposed to lay flowers at the monument to law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty, protecting law and order.

The rector of the university Valery Sokurenko addressed the graduates with encouraging words: “Today is a holiday, the Day of the National Police. And it is on this memorable day that we hold another release of young officers. You received education in one of the best universities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Thanks to the support of the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, the Collegium of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the university is developing. We are improving our educational, material base, and each of you has also made efforts to develop our university so that it is the best not only in Slobozhanshchyna, but also in the whole state. I am grateful to the honored guests who are with us today, and who do everything to ensure that the university meets the requirements of today, to be at the level of European and world standards. Teachers, professors of the university have provided you with the necessary skills, knowledge, so that you are ready for the challenges that exist in the world. Crime has no borders, it is international, mobile and modern, but your professionalism should stand in the way of any challenge. Remember that you have chosen the path and the duty that the state, citizens, imposes on you, you must justify, serve with high responsibility, improve professional skills. The doors of the university are always open for you. You will be able to become masters and doctors in the future, and enter the classrooms as teachers, heads of university departments, deans. I am sure that it will be so, but for this you must be honest, fair, humane. Remember that citizens' trust in the National Police, safety on the streets is the highest indicator of our professional qualities and achievements.

Congratulations on the successful completion of the training! Peace be upon you, goodness and harmony! Let your parents be proud of you, your achievements and your growth. Serve and work so that people respect you and the Lord God protects you! Glory to Ukraine!”

During the graduation of young police officers, the rector presented awards to the employees of the institution of higher education and wished them further success in professional and service activities. For exemplary performance of official duties, personal initiative and dedication, the Diploma of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine was awarded to the Deputy Dean of Faculty No. 3 Major of Police Igor Shevchenko and the Head of the Medical and Sanitary Department Oksana Nedilko.

There was a farewell ceremony with the University Flag. To carry out this honorable mission on behalf of all graduates was entrusted to police lieutenant Roman Furso. On the motto of the National Police of Ukraine “Serve and protect!” The cadets answered three times: “We swear!”

During the celebrations, the guests were shown performances by units of carabiners, drummers and artistic performances. The event ended with a lieutenant's waltz performed by graduates.
