A group of persons will be tried in Khmelnytskyi for extorting 100,000 hryvnias
In order to force the local resident to give money, the defendants applied psychological and physical pressure to him.
At the end of March this year, during the operation, the operatives of the Strategic Investigation Department in Khmelnytsky region, together with the criminal police officers, investigators of the investigative department of the police of the region, with the strong support of special agents, detained two members of the group.
Men, having connections in the criminal environment of the region, for a long time under a fictitious pretext demanded funds from a local resident. At the same time, they threatened violence and destruction of his property. In order to gain peace, the victim had to transfer UAH 100,000 to the specified bank account.
Immediately after the arrest, the police conducted a number of authorized searches of the places of residence of the accused. In one of them, the police seized precursors, cannabis, amphetamine and laboratory equipment.
On July 27, in agreement with the Khmelnytsky Regional Prosecutor's Office, the indictment against two persons was sent to the Khmelnytsky City District Court. The organizer is charged with committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 2 of Art. 189 (Extortion) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The actions of his accomplice, in addition to Art. 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, qualified under Part 2 of Art. 309 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation or shipment of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues without the purpose of marketing), parts 2 and 3 of Art. 311 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation or shipment of precursors) and part 1 of Art. 313 (Abduction, appropriation, extortion of equipment intended for the manufacture of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues, or possession of it by fraud or abuse of office and other illegal actions with such equipment) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For the crime, the accused can face up to 7 years in prison.
