In Kherson, police officers exposed a criminal group for spreading criminal influence and selling drugs to convicts of a correctional institution
Law enforcement officers stopped the activities of an organized criminal group, the organizer of which spread criminal influence among convicts, and also established a channel for the supply and sale of narcotic substances to the state correctional institution.
The activities of the criminal organization were established by the operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Kherson region with employees of the Directorate of Security Service of Ukraine. Together with the investigators of the regional head of police, according to the procedural guidance of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office and the force support of the special unit of the police KORD, 8 sanctioned searches were carried out at the places of residence of the defendants, in their cars and in places of imprisonment.
Law enforcement officers have established that one of the prisoners of the correctional institution, who attributes himself to “sightseers”, carries out criminal influence both on the territory of this institution and beyond its borders. He organized a channel for the supply of drugs to the territory of the correctional institution. To do this, the “spotter” set fire to another prisoner and several people at large, who threw and took dangerous substances through the guarded fence. In total, the group consisted of 7 people.
Today, April 22, during searches in the cells of suspects and their accomplices at large, law enforcement officers seized drugs and utensils in which drugs were manufactured, syringes, drug smoking thimbles, mobile phones, bank cards, “rough” records with information about convicts and collection of funds from them.
Open criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 255-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Establishment or dissemination of criminal influence” and under Part 2 of Article 307 “Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues” of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Attackers can be threatened with imprisonment for a term of 6 to 10 years with confiscation of property. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
