In Vinnytsia region, police detained a suspect in a robbery attack on two brothers with disabilities
The attacker was detained by the operatives on the morning of January 4, a few hours after the crime was committed in the village of Busha. From the 19-year-old attacker, the police seized money, mobile phones and other belongings of the victims, a weapon for committing a crime - a pistol, as well as more than half a kilogram of drugs. As it turned out, the detainee is wanted for stealing a car. An offender who has a conviction for property crimes faces up to 12 years in prison.
A report of the crime came to the police from a 40-year-old resident of the village of Ivonivka on December 3. According to the applicant, at about 22.00 hours an unknown man entered the house where he lives with his brother in a balaclava and, threatened with a gun, took away UAH 7,000, mobile phones and other belongings. The victims could not resist the attacker because of their disability.
According to the deputy chief of the Mogilev-Podolsk district police department Roman Pivtoratsky, by the operational and investigative measures taken, the police established that a 19-year-old resident of the village of Busha may be involved in the crime. After the attack, he hid from the police in the house of his neighbor, to whom he asked to spend the night. During the arrest, money and all the belongings of the victims, a pistol and two bags of cannabis were seized from the suspect.
As it turned out, the detainee was involved in the theft of the Skoda car from a resident of the Yampil territorial community in December last year and was wanted. In a stolen car, he went to Khmelnytskyi region. On the road, the intruder did not cope with the steering, drove into a ditch, where he left the car. On this fact, he was declared in absentia on suspicion of art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal possession of a vehicle) and declared wanted.
The weapon seized from the attacker is sent for examination. The investigative department of the police investigates criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 187 (robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Such a crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to 12 years with confiscation of property. The attacker was declared a suspect. The investigation is preparing a petition to elect him a preventive measure - detention.
An investigation was also launched into the proceedings under Art. 309 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation or shipment of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues without the purpose of sale) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
