In the Ternopil region, the internal security of the National Police exposed police officers to extort a bribe
Employees of the response sector of the Ternopil patrol police demanded 20 thousand hryvnias from one of the drivers for illegal benefits, threatening to be brought to administrative responsibility. Police officers were detained on the transfer of funds.
A man contacted the Ternopil Department of Internal Security of the NPU and complained about illegal actions of police officers. The police demanded a bribe of 20,000 hryvnias from him.
It was established that the applicant was driving his own car when he was stopped by officers of the patrol police response sector (SRPP) of the city of Ternopol. Without registration of the relevant documents, the man's driver's license was seized and threatened with the drafting of an administrative decree under Art. 130 (Management of vehicles or vessels by persons who are in a state of alcohol, drug or other intoxication or under the influence of drugs that reduce their attention and reaction speed) KUPAP. For the “settlement of the situation”, the police officers offered the driver to provide them with “ransom”.
Immediately after receiving illegal benefits, SRPP employees were detained at the scene of the crime by the internal security officers of the NPU, the SBU and the State Bureau of Investigation. The police car was searched.
At present, the investigators of the SBI, under the procedural guidance of the Ternopil Regional Prosecutor's Office, have already handed over suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine to one of the defendants. In the order of Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine he was detained. The question of the final legal qualification of the actions of other employees is resolved. In addition, by order of the leadership of the GUNP in the Ternopil region, the accused law enforcement officers will be dismissed from the police.
