In the capital, operatives detained a Kiev resident who committed a robbery attack on a mother and daughter - Andriy Kryshchenko
The attacker, under threat of a gun, forced women to give him 5 thousand US dollars. Operational officers conducted a special police operation and detained the attacker at his place of residence in Obolonsky district. Now for his actions he faces up to twelve years in prison.
The capital's police received a report that on the street of Marshal Tymoshenko, an unknown person committed a robbery attack on a car in which a mother and her daughter are located. Investigative and operational teams of the Main and Obolon Police Departments and criminal investigation officers immediately went to the call.
According to the head of the Kiev police Andriy Kryshchenko, the victims told law enforcement officers that an unknown person sat in the back seat of their car and, threatening to use a weapon, ordered to give him 5 thousand US dollars:
“Since the women did not have the specified amount, one of them asked the man to bring the funds, and he in turn entered into a dialogue with the defendant, promised to bring money and called the police. Given the fact that the situation did not allow a full-scale police operation, everything was done by the operatives in order not to arouse the suspicion of the criminal that his actions were controlled by the police. Fulfilling the intruder's request, one of the special agents approached the car and gave the money. It was decided not to detain the offender immediately because he threatened to use a firearm in a crowded place and claimed to have accomplices watching everything.”
After the transfer of funds, the attacker released the women, and law enforcement officers carried out a series of operational measures against him in order to identify accomplices of the Kiev citizen and find out if he had firearms. The next day, special agents and investigators detained a 30-year-old local resident under the order of Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The police carried out the necessary investigative actions and seized material evidence from him — weapons.
“On this fact, criminal proceedings were initiated and today he was announced on suspicion of committing a crime provided for in Part 3 of Article 187 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. As well as investigative and procedural leaders will apply to the court with a request to elect him a preventive measure. The defendant faces up to twelve years in prison with confiscation of property,” added the head of the capital's head.
