The accomplices posted ads on the Internet about a favorable exchange rate and rented a room where they were waiting for a “client”. During the detention of the intruders, one of them resisted the law enforcement officer.

The metropolitan police received a report from a woman that on Holosiivskyi Avenue during currency exchange, an employee of the institution took more than 54 thousand US dollars and fled. To intercept and process the information, the duty officer immediately sent to the operators of the capital's head and employees of the territorial unit.

According to the chief of police of Kyiv Andriy Kryshchenko, the police established that three people were involved in the crime:

“One of the accomplices posted on the Internet an announcement about a favorable exchange rate of foreign currency to the national one and coordinated the “business”. The woman rented the premises for an exchanger and acted as an employee of the institution. For the quick escape of the attacker, the third defendant, who was waiting on the street, helped.”

The victim drew attention to the announcement about the exchange of currency at a “favorable” rate and called scammers. The offender told the address of the exchanger to which you need to come with the money.

“After the defendant received more than 54 thousand US dollars from the victim, she left with the money through a separate exit to her accomplice, who was on a motorcycle. Operatives quickly caught up with the intruders. During the arrest, one of them resisted a police officer and caused bodily harm. Criminal proceedings under the second part of Article 345 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine have been initiated for the intentional infliction of bodily harm to an employee of the law enforcement agency,” the head of the capital's head said.

The perpetrators were previously unconvicted residents of Kyiv region: men born in 1975 and 1981 and a 37-year-old woman. They were detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Investigators of the Holosiivskyi Police Department informed the defendants about the suspicion of committing the crime provided for in Part 4 of Art. 190 (Fraud committed on a particularly large scale or by an organized group) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Also, law enforcement officers appealed to the Holosiivskyi district court with a request to elect the defendants a preventive measure in the form of detention. For their actions, they face from five to twelve years in prison with confiscation of property.

“As part of the pre-trial investigation, we check the involvement of the perpetrators in the commission of similar crimes committed on the territory of Kyiv,” added Andriy Kryshchenko.
