Today, Volyn hosts large-scale training of units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs within the framework of the special border operation “Polissya”. Near the village of Dolsk Kamin-Kashirsky district of Volyn region, with the participation of the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, joint staff training of management bodies, units of state border protection, reserves of reinforcement of the State Border Service of Ukraine, which arrived at the site of the 6th Volyn border detachment and units of the Armed Forces took place Ukraine, other military formations, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and law enforcement agencies.
Interior Minister Denis Monastyrsky said that such exercises are currently being conducted in all five regions bordering the Republic of Belarus.
“During the exercises, we saw that all the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are a real fist that can ensure the internal security of Ukraine. A few weeks ago, there was a very different picture. And today we made sure that 30-60 minutes after intelligence provides information about the arrival of migrants, our units will be at the border. The sequence of events will be as follows — receiving information from intelligence agencies, directing forces and means to points where migrants are likely to cross the border, border guards will be the first on the spot. Next, the forces of the National Police and the National Guard join, which are absolutely ready to fight back in case of illegal crossing of the state border,” the head of the law enforcement agency said.
He said several scenarios had been worked out today.
The first is the mass breakout of migrants when the offensive goes on the checkpoints. The police demonstrated special tactics with the use of Scandinavian experience. When law enforcement officers have to work with a large crowd. The second is crossing the border in small, mobile groups. The experience of Poland has shown that the special services of the RB are trying to transfer from 5 to 20 people across the border. Observation points are currently in operation to establish such groups and respond to them.
Denis Monastyrsky noted that the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs spoke with representatives of the AHs. The local population is clearly determined — no one wants to see migrants on our territory, therefore, there are no persons who would facilitate the migration of migrants to Ukraine. Although, this variant of the development of events is also not excluded. Relevant studies in this direction are also available. Law enforcement officers monitor whether strangers, not locals, appear in the border area. Intelligence reports that the largest number of migrants is currently gathered at the border areas of Belarus - Lithuania, Belarus-Poland.
“At the moment, we are also considering the possibility of worsening weather conditions. We do not exclude the freezing of rivers, on the borders of states. It can also change the tactics of migrants' actions,” said the head of the law enforcement agency.
Denis Monastyrsky noted that, unfortunately, there is currently no equipped border with the Republic of Belarus. This is a serious challenge for next year. We are talking about the construction of state borders — the presence not only of “egosis”, but also of an intellectual border that signals the presence of danger or crossing.
The Minister of Interior noted that yesterday he had a telephone conversation with his Polish counterpart Mariusz Kaminski, who confirmed the de-escalation of tensions, as well as obvious signs of a change in the tactics of people trying to break through the Belarusian-Polish border, storming it in different places in small groups.
The head of the State Border Guard Service Serhiy Deineko said that the State Police Intelligence Service does not observe the activities of groups of illegal migrants. “We see intimidation by special services of an unfriendly state, we see possible redirection of migrants.
The purpose of the exercises is to coordinate the actions of all the services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in case of an escalation of the situation,” he stressed.
Recall, on November 23, a joint special border operation “Polissya” began on the border with the Republic of Belarus. It is coordinated by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and is carried out jointly with the forces of the National Guard, the National Police, the Armed Forces and other reserves involved.
