On the border with the Republic of Belarus, a joint special border operation “Polissya” began. It is coordinated by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and is carried out jointly with the forces of the National Guard, the National Police, the Armed Forces and other reserves involved.
These are further measures to increase the protection and protection of the Ukrainian border in order to prevent the migration crisis and counteract illegal activities.
As noted by First Deputy Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Volodymyr Nikiforenko, today on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border there is a threat of spreading migration crisis and the possibility of redirection of flows of migrants to Ukraine, and therefore law enforcement agencies are jointly taking measures to increase the border protection system. in this area.
“In order to further respond to the possible complication of the situation together with the interacting state structures, a joint special border operation was agreed and a corresponding plan was developed. And last night it officially started,” he said.
The First Deputy Head of the State DPSU added that its main task is to prevent illegal migrants from crossing the state border and entering Ukraine, and for this purpose, coordination of actions of all forces involved is ensured.
To lead the operation and the operational exchange of information, the work of the Interdepartmental Coordination Headquarters was organized at the central and regional levels, at the tactical (district) level, coordination groups of management were formed.
Control over the state border regime will be carried out by increased border outfits with the simultaneous build-up of forces and resources in possible directions of attempts to break through groups of illegal migrants.
In border protection, aviation, unmanned aviation complexes, as well as technical surveillance equipment will be actively used for patrolling and monitoring.
In addition, it is envisaged to significantly strengthen the border regime along the Ukrainian-Belarusian section of the state border. Within the controlled border areas, checkpoints on highways and patrolling of the main roads leading to the state border, inspection of bus and railway stations, and preventive measures in border settlements will take place.
