Qualification training for police trainers on organization of public order took place in the National Police
During the seminar training, special purpose police units improved theoretical knowledge and practical skills of ensuring public safety and order according to the Scandinavian model. Today, April 16, the head of the Department of Preventive Activities of the National Police of Ukraine Igor Babych presented certificates to law enforcement officers.
The training took place within the framework of the Programme “Support for reforms in the field of rule of law in Ukraine in the fields of police, prosecutor's office and good governance” (PRAVO-Police), implemented by UNOPS with the financial support of the European Union in cooperation with the EU Advisory Mission in Ukraine (ECHR).
Ihor Babych, Head of the Department of Preventive Activities of the National Police of Ukraine, noted that within five days on the basis of the National Academy of Internal Affairs with the help of the IMES and UNOPS with the involvement of police officers from Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Romania, Portugal was conducted for trainers police officers.
“We have among the special purpose police units a certain number of personnel who have already undergone a series of trainings since 2016 on the direct implementation of the best practices of the European Union countries in ensuring public order and ensuring peaceful gatherings in the work of the National Police. And today we finalized the work of trainers — 25 police officers received the relevant certificates. From May, together with our European colleagues, they will start training special purpose police units,” said Igor Babych.
According to IEC advisor and coach on public order Jens Gesselbjerg Müller, this event is held to provide the National Police of Ukraine with qualified trainers who will be able to conduct similar trainings for their colleagues in the future.
“I highly appreciate the skills and abilities of our colleagues from the National Police of Ukraine, who are invited to this training. I can emphasize that they really remember what they were taught. I also express my gratitude to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police of Ukraine for their assistance in organizing and sending these employees for this training. And I also expect that with the help of these coaches the next PRAVO training will be a success,” said Jens Gesselbjerg Müller.
Igor Babich thanked the European partners for the trainings and the provision of material assistance in purchasing equipment for police and specialized vehicles.
