The National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine held a solemn presentation of officer's shoulder straps to graduates.

The military rank of “lieutenant” was given to 268 officers. Girls also receive the rank of officer for the fifth year in a row. This year there are 21.

The shoulder straps were presented to the graduates by their commanders and commanders, and the guards who graduated with honors were personally worn by the commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Colonel-General Mykola Balan, and the head of the Academy, Lieutenant General Serhiy Sokolovsky.

“Dear graduates! I congratulate you on receiving the primary officer rank — lieutenant. This is a special moment in the life of every officer and the entire officer community of the National Guard of Ukraine, - said Colonel-General Mykola Balan. - For a long time, officers graduating from the Academy have established themselves in the troops as knowledgeable and competent specialists, patriots of Ukraine, who are ready to perform the most difficult tasks. Very soon you will assume positions, behind your back will be subordinate personnel, so realize yourself as highly professional officers, be proud of your military ranks and service in the National Guard. I wish you all good health, professional growth, a peaceful sky above your head.”

Colonel of the reserve, associate professor of the department of military-social and psychological support Mykola Tovma spoke from the veterans of the Academy.

On behalf of the graduating officers, Lieutenant Yulia Deshpetko greeted.

“I congratulate graduates on graduation from the National Academy. Each of us has passed our own special path from the military oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people to receiving the primary officer rank. The years of service and training have been intense, but each of us has come this way. I thank the Academy staff for their dedicated and hard work in training officers, true professional leaders for the National Guard of Ukraine. We promise to justify the trust of our subordinates and with honor to wear the title of officer,” the graduate shares her impressions. The soloist of the brass band of the Academy Olga Polezhak congratulated the participants with the musical composition “Defender of Ukraine”.

It should be noted that the ceremony was attended by representatives of the Joint Operational and Tactical Group of the Canadian Armed Forces in Ukraine (Operation UNIFIER), led by the commander of Operation UNIFIER Lieutenant Colonel Melanie Lake. They noted the high level of organization of the event and expressed words of gratitude for the opportunity to witness this remarkable event for the young replenishment of the National Guard. Lieutenant Colonel Melanie Lake also wore lieutenant shoulder straps to young officers.

Tomorrow the lieutenants will have a solemn graduation ceremony, where the guards will receive diplomas of graduation from the National Guard Academy.
