The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has completed the process of selecting candidates for participation in UN peacekeeping missions

Today, October 29, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Kateryna Pavlichenko held a working meeting with representatives of the International Examination Commission of the UN Secretariat. During the event, the parties discussed the results of the selection of candidates for participation in peacekeeping missions, as well as the issue of candidate preparation. Particular attention was paid to the achievement of gender parity among the national staff.

In order to select the personnel for the reserve of candidates for participation in international operations for the maintenance of peace and security, representatives of the UN Secretariat arrived in Ukraine. The International Examination Commission for the Selection of Candidates for Mission (SAAT) was headed by Mam Bintou Ndongo (Gambia) and Akram Hassan Afifi Ahmed (Egypt).

“Our ministry has been cooperating with many organizations of the UN structure for a long time. We are constantly working to find the best specialists to participate in peacekeeping missions. And we are grateful for the work done by the representatives of the International Examination Commission”, - said Kateryna Pavlichenko.

Between October 25 and 29, international experts evaluated the candidates and determined their level of proficiency in a foreign language, firearms, and tested the ability to drive an all-wheel drive vehicle. 66 people were selected to be part of international peace and security operations, including 43 policemen of the National Police of Ukraine (7 women), 23 servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine (1 woman).

The Department of Personnel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, together with the Department of Peacekeeping Operations of the UN Secretariat, is constantly working on the preparation and referral of policemen and soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine to the UN peacekeeping operations.
