At the International Center of the National Guard, instructors of the French National Gendarmerie exchanged experience in ensuring public safety
For two weeks, representatives of the National Gendarmerie of France were present at the International Interdepartmental Multidisciplinary Center for the Training of National Guard Units in Kyiv Region in order to exchange experience in ensuring public safety. Units for the protection of public order of the military units of the Northern ATO National Guard of the National Guard of Ukraine were involved in the course on democratic control of mass gatherings.
During the collective training of the consolidated unit, new European standards and approaches to the performance of public safety tasks were worked out. During the classes of the Training Center for the Training of Public Security Units with a consolidated company, French colleagues were included in the training process and submitted their proposals, based on the experience of training units of the French gendarmerie.
“During the company's practical exercises, we had the opportunity to exchange experience on the action plan with representatives of the National Guard. We learned that there are many practical exercises that we implement on a similar principle and have been able to see the learning before the evaluation. The unit actually showed itself very well and coped with the tasks set,” said Captain Olivier Jordana, instructor of the National Gendarmerie of France, during the summing up of the training.
French colleagues stressed that the level of training of the Guardsmen was similar to that of the gendarmes, but with different equipment and equipment. It was also noted that the Unit Training Center of NGU is well adapted to high-quality training of public security units. It has a new infrastructure and everything necessary has been done to ensure that the units that arrive have optimal conditions for training.
“The units of the National Guard of Ukraine are very strong in maintaining public order and we are very pleased that we had the opportunity to work together for two weeks. I had positive impressions not only from the visit to the International Center, but also from the work of the instructor staff of the Training Center for the Training of Public Security Units,” said Captain Olivier Jordana.
During the final briefing, the possibility of continuing the traineeship of instructors for the protection of public order of the National Guard at the National Gendarmerie Training Center of France in the city of Saint-Astier was also discussed.
“We thank you for your support and cooperation. The experience of the French gendarmerie is practical in application and training — it is the world's leading experience in ensuring public safety and this is important to us. We will take it over from you and will transfer it to the units, but our experience is also interesting for you,” said Colonel Oleksandr Kryachko, Head of the International Center.
The guards were given certificates of passing a course on democratic control of mass gatherings, and they in turn thanked their French colleagues for their experience and cooperation.
At the end of the event, symbolic gifts were exchanged, which will remind of the close cooperation between the staff of the International Center of the National Guard and representatives of the National Gendarmerie of France.
