In Nikolaev law enforcement officers detained an organized group that was engaged in the sale of methadone and tried to bribe a police official
Internal security agents of the National Police, together with police officers of the Nikolaev region, exposed a criminal group of persons who distributed a particularly dangerous drug - methadone. In order to act smoothly, dealers promised the head of the police unit monthly bribes. According to the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office, five members of the group have already been informed of the suspicion.
Employees of the Nikolaev department of the Department of Internal Security of NPU established activities on the territory of Nikolaev of a group of persons who established the sale of a special dangerous drug - methadone. Five local residents - three women and two men, aged 29 to 49 - were involved in the criminal business.
In order to avoid problems with law enforcement agencies, the attackers turned to the head of the Office for Combating Drug Crime (UPN) in the Nikolaev area of the State Police Service of Ukraine and offered him a bribe — UAH 15,000 per month. The police official immediately reported on the corruption proposal to the management and internal security staff of the NPU.
According to the materials of UDVB NPU, the investigative department of the police of the Nikolaev region entered information into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under Part 3 of Art. 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) and part 4 of Art. 369 (Offer, promise or provision of unlawful benefits to an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
By joint actions, police officers, under the procedural guidance of the Nikolaev regional prosecutor's office, documented the fact of providing the promised monthly bribe to the police official and seized the subject of the crime. There was also an operational purchase of the drug product.
With the physical support of KORDU fighters and special purpose police, all members of the drug group were detained. Conducted authorized searches. During the activities, drugs, cash, mobile phones and bank cards were discovered and seized.
Police investigators have now announced a suspicion of intruders. In the order of Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine they were detained. A petition for the election of a preventive measure has been submitted to the court. For the sale of drugs as part of an organized group, the defendants face imprisonment for a term of nine to twelve years with confiscation of property.
