In Nikolaev law enforcement officers detained a group of persons who stole diesel fuel from diesel locomotives of Ukrzaliznytsia
According to preliminary data, every month intruders seized more than 100 tons of fuel. On May 27, law enforcement officers detained intruders directly during the commission of another theft.
The group included seven people aged 22 to 46, including three Ukrzaliznytsia employees — diesel locomotive drivers and their assistant. During the investigation, law enforcement officers established that the criminals established a scheme of systematic theft of fuel, distributing roles and conditioning the place. After that, they took it to certain gas stations belonging to one of the defendants, at a much lower cost than the market one.
According to preliminary data, every month the attackers seized more than 100 tons of fuel, and their earnings reached tens of millions of hryvnias, - says the head of the GUNP in the Nikolaev area Sergey Shaykhet.
On May 27, the investigators of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Investigation Department, together with the employees of the Directorate of Security Service of Ukraine and under the procedural guidance of the Regional Prosecutor's Office, detained the intruders directly during the commission of the next theft.
During the searches, the police seized cars, more than half a ton of stolen diesel fuel in canisters, a pump and hoses, special devices for pumping fuel from diesel fuel tanks and for unloading filled tanks, as well as about 2 million hryvnias.
According to this fact, criminal proceedings initiated on the basis of Part 3 of Art. 15 Part 3 of Art. 185 (attempted theft combined with penetration into housing, other premises or storage) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine are being investigated. Violators face punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to six years.
Five defendants were detained by investigators in the order of Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Currently, the issue of notifying all members of the group about suspicion of committing a crime and choosing preventive measures is being resolved. Investigative actions continue, after which a legal assessment of the actions of each of the defendants will be provided.
