False certificates of absence of COVID-19 were issued in Lviv — the police exposed the perpetrators
Fake certificates with a negative result for a viral disease were presented to employees of the State Border Service of Ukraine, when going on vacation to foreign countries. Internal security agents of the National Police, together with the investigators of the Lviv region police, identified “specialists” who were making fakes, and announced their suspicions.
Employees of the Lviv Department of Internal Security of NPU, working within the framework of the protection of the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, established information on the entry of certificates with signs of forgery confirming the absence of coronavirus to the border control and passage through the state border of Ukraine.
According to this fact, the information was entered into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under Art by the Investigative Department of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the GUNP in Lviv Oblast. 358 (Forgery of documents, seals, stamps and forms, sale or use of forged documents, seals, stamps) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
A group of persons was involved in transactions with false certificates, including employees of one of the medical institutions and certain travel companies. For their own illegal profit, the conspirators set up a scheme for the manufacture and sale of certificates with the conclusion “test negative”, without conducting any laboratory tests. The order cost customers 800-900 hryvnias. Law enforcement officials found that accomplices managed to produce almost 2,000 fake PCR tests.
Internal security operatives of NPU and investigators of Lviv RUP No. 1, under the procedural guidance of the Galician District Prosecutor's Office of the city of Lviv, declared a suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine to two men, 23 and 36 years old, as well as a 21-year-old resident of Lviv. In case of proof of guilt for the actions committed, the defendants may be threatened with restriction of liberty for up to five years or imprisonment for the same period.
