Training on psychological rehabilitation in extreme situations started in Lviv
Today, the training “Psychological support in extreme situations” started in Lviv. The event is held at the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the OSCE Project Coordinator.
Participants of the exercises are representatives of the psychological support units of the National Police, the National Guard, the State Border Service, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Over the course of five days, they will master the latest modern techniques for dealing with psychotrauma, stress and post-traumatic stress disorders. The training will be conducted by qualified specialists in the field of trauma-focused therapy, OSCE experts Lyudmila Tsarenko and Marina Malinovska.
The opening of the event took place at Lviv State University of Internal Affairs. The rector of LvDUV, Police Colonel Roman Blaguta, addressed the participants with a welcoming word.
“Experienced practicing psychologists ensure a psychologically stable climate in the team and its ability to work quickly and efficiently, - noted the head of the university. - The work of a psychologist is extremely important in modern conditions, and timely psychological assistance can prevent many extraordinary events, in particular, injuries and suicides. Therefore, conducting such trainings is extremely necessary, because it promotes the exchange of experience and helps to develop unified approaches to psychological support in extreme situations.”
The National Project Manager, OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine Serhiy Grinenko, also addressed the participants of the training.
“Lviv State University of Internal Affairs is our long-standing partner, together with whom we implement projects on various security issues. We have a great history of cooperation, which we value very much,” he stressed.
In addition, Sergey Grinenko presented to the audience the projects that are implemented in the sphere of socio-psychological rehabilitation of persons affected by the conflict.
After that, Artem Shlyakhta, chief specialist of the Department of Psychological Support of the Department of Personnel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, addressed the participants of the training with a welcoming speech.
“We gathered today at the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs in order to raise our professional level and intensify cooperation with the team of the OSCE Project Coordinator. We plan to continue our partnership on issues aimed at preserving mental health and psychological well-being, both representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the population of Ukraine,” said Artem Shlyakhta.
Finally, coaches Lyudmila Tsarenko and Marina Malinovska addressed the participants with a welcoming word.
Participation in the training will help participants to more efficiently and effectively carry out psychoprophylaxis, psychocorrection and psychological rehabilitation measures, to master the latest psychotherapeutic techniques of working with persons who have been exposed to psychotraumatic situations.
It should be noted that the event is held within the framework of the project of providing international technical assistance for the development of training capabilities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The first stage of the exercises took place in September last year in the city of Kyiv. The second phase of this project is currently underway, involving a training course for practicing psychologists.
