In Lviv, police detained a group of intruders who “specialized” in stealing equipment from construction
As established by the operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department together with the employees of the Criminal Analysis Department of the Lviv region police, operatives and investigators of the Lviv district police department, the detainees, residents of different regions of Ukraine, are involved in at least five thefts. The total amount of stolen property is about 1.3 million hryvnias.
During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that six intruders, residents of Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Zaporizhia, Ivano-Frankivsk regions and one from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea aged 18 to 42, rented accommodation in Lviv. At their disposal, they had two minibuses, which they drove in the dark to the construction sites, from where they stole the metal supports of the formwork, which were later transported to a rented garage for storage.
The police detained the intruders in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine on April 10 immediately after committing another theft — from a new building on Pasichna Street in Lviv they stole 250 racks of formwork.
The involvement of the detainees in at least five such thefts has been established. During the authorized searches, law enforcement officers found and seized stolen stands from the buildings, the total value of which is about 1.3 million hryvnias, and other material evidence of their involvement in the commission of crimes.
Investigators reported the suspicion of the detainees, two of whom had previously been prosecuted for robbery, hooliganism, inflicting bodily harm, threats of murder and fraud, in the commission of a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Article 185 (Theft of the Crime) The Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment — imprisonment for a term of three to six years.
Pre-trial investigation continues, soon the court will choose preventive measures for the detainees.
