In Krivoy Rog, the police discovered hemp plantations worth UAH 130 million
Operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Dnipropetrovsk region, together with law enforcement colleagues, seized more than 10 thousand cannabis bushes.
As the police established, the cultivation of drug plants took place on an industrial scale. To do this, a greenhouse of 6 sections with a total area of 2700 square meters was built on the territory of one of the households. In addition, a special irrigation system was installed.
The “agribusiness” was carefully monitored. According to the information available to the operators, the merged and prepared for sale goods were distributed in wholesale and retail lots both in the Dnipropetrovsk region and throughout Ukraine.
On August 2, operatives, investigators of the Kryvyi Rih police department, the investigative department of the regional police and the patrol police conducted an urgent search at the location of the greenhouses. More than 10,000 cannabis bushes and ready-to-market products were seized. The value of the “black market” withdrawn at prices reaches UAH 130 million.
In addition, in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, one person who supervised the process was detained. Currently, measures are being held to establish the organizers of “agribusiness” and its accomplices. The issue of notifying the detainee of suspicion and choosing preventive measures is resolved. Procedural guidance in criminal proceedings opened under Part 2 of Art. 310 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, carried out by the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office. For the illegal sowing and cultivation of cannabis, there is a penalty in the form of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
