A group of people was detained in Kyiv who doused citizens with a potent drug and took away their belongings
The defendants got acquainted with visitors of entertainment establishments and on the streets, offered them to drink alcohol, into which they inconspicuously poured the drug. As a result of the actions of the offenders, one of the victims died. Criminal proceedings have been opened.
During the implementation of operational information, the employees of the Kyiv Migration Police Department, together with the investigators under the procedural leadership of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office and with the force support of the special officers of the KORD, exposed and detained five people for committing robbery attacks on citizens using potent drugs. These are four men of 1981, 1986, 1987, 1997 years of birth and a woman of 1980 birth.
According to the deputy chief of police of Kiev - the head of the investigative department Dmitry Shumeyko, during the pre-trial investigation, the police found that each of the accomplices had a clear distribution of functions:
“We found out that the offenders met citizens in entertainment venues and on the streets and offered them to drink alcohol. At this moment, they imperceptibly poured a potent drug into the drink of the victims, from which they lost consciousness. After that, the attackers took valuables and fled. It is also known that one of the victims died from the actions of the offenders.”
In addition, the police conducted four searches, including the places of residence of persons involved in the commission of crimes. As a result, vials and blisters with various potent drugs were recovered, as well as an item similar to a battle grenade. The defendants were detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
“Criminal proceedings have been initiated under the first part of Article 115 (premeditated murder) and Part 2 of Article 187 (robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In accordance with the procedural agreement with the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, the investigators prepare a notice of suspicion for the detainees and a petition to the court for the selection of preventive measures in the form of detention. The attackers face up to 15 years in prison. A pre-trial investigation is ongoing,” Dmitry Shumeyko said.
