Command and staff training continues in Kyiv to ensure smooth movement of vehicles on the roads during extreme weather conditions
Yesterday, October 22, command and staff training began on ensuring the smooth movement of vehicles to prevent emergencies on highways during extreme weather conditions.
Training in such a wide format is held for the second time. They involve all services involved in overcoming the effects of weather and emergency situations, namely employees of Ukravtodor, patrol police, the State Emergency Service, Ukrtranssecurity, as well as regional representatives on man-made environmental safety and emergency situations.
All in order to analyze the work of the units over the past year, as well as to coordinate their actions and accumulate all possible resources in order to be prepared in advance this year for the winter period and possible complications of weather conditions.
The head of the State Emergency Service Nikolai Chechotkin noted that traffic violations are one of the common threats of the winter period: “Every year, due to snow drifts, about 7 thousand cars with more than 15 thousand people get into traffic jams, which requires the road services, the State Emergency Service, the National Police and the local authorities in extreme conditions to provide assistance to road users.”
He noted that countering challenges directly depends on the level of training of government bodies and the readiness of civil defense forces.
“Sometimes, even with the available resources, developed plans and algorithms of action, a simple dangerous event can acquire the level of an emergency situation due to the lack of management, interaction and coordination of management bodies and services,” said Nikolai Chechotkin.
“Starting with this phase of the command and staff exercises, we have the opportunity to coordinate our actions and prepare for what winter has prepared for us this year. As experience shows, in previous years we reacted quickly and quickly overcame the effects of bad weather. This year we need to be even more prepared. In particular, it is necessary to pay special attention to those sections of roads on which problems are monitored every year,” said First Deputy Chief of the Patrol Police Department Oleksiy Biloshitsky.
We also remind you that the autumn-commission inspection of roads is currently underway in order to properly prepare the street and road network for the winter period. Police officers record the state of coverage of the carriageway, sidewalks, sidewalks, railway tracks, technical means of road traffic organization. Particular attention is paid to emergency areas of the road, places of concentration of accidents, as well as the state of outdoor lighting and video surveillance lines, etc.
