In Kyiv, the police detained a criminal group involved in the abduction of a Latvian citizen

Among the detainees are a foreigner and two Ukrainian citizens. They arranged to kidnap the man in order to force him to repay more than £15,000 of “debt”.

It was established that his girlfriend organized the abduction of a Latvian citizen through her acquaintances. After arriving in Kiev on June 15, a man and a woman came to a house where two unknown people were waiting for them. In the course of communication, strangers reported that he allegedly owed money to their mutual friend. During the day, the attackers kept the man in the house, using physical violence against him. The victim was forced to transfer more than 15 thousand pounds to the woman's account and write a receipt stating that he had debt obligations. After that he was released.

Yesterday, June 16, a Latvian citizen turned for help to the operatives of the Strategic Investigation Department in Kyiv of the National Police. In less than a day, law enforcement officers identified the perpetrators and took measures to detain them.

On June 17, operatives, investigators of the Solomensky Police Department with the strong support of special officers of the Department of Strategic Investigations detained three people. The foreigner and two Ukrainian citizens were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The actions of offenders are qualified under Part 2 of Art. 146 (unlawful deprivation of a person's liberty), Part 2 of Art. 187 (robbery) and Part 2 of Art. 189 (extortion) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of notifying them of suspicion and choosing precautions is resolved.

Procedural guidance in criminal proceedings is carried out by the Solomenskaya District Prosecutor's Office.

Recall: The National Police exposed persons who ordered and organized the abduction and murder of a Serbian citizen in order to seize his wealth.
