Within the framework of international cooperation between the National Guard of Ukraine and the Gendarmerie of Romania, representatives of the National Guard of Ukraine met in Ivano-Frankivsk with the Head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration Andriy Boichuk and the Advisor on Internal Affairs and Police Cooperation of the Embassy of Romania Ukraine to Dumitru Yova.
The agenda of the meeting was to attract the support of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration, as the main beneficiary of cross-border cooperation projects, where the military unit 1241 of the Western Operational and Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine is directly involved.
In particular, the issue of organizing places of permanent service for the mountain patrol company in the mountainous area in the tourist recreation area, as is organized in Romania, and the provision of chief assistance in the development of the infrastructure of the military unit were discussed.
“Let us thank all the National Guards for ensuring law and order in Ivano-Frankivsk region. The Regional State Administration cooperates with Romanian counties within the framework of three international interregional agreements. We are a beneficiary of the projects of military unit 1241 of the National Guard of Ukraine in the program of border cooperation “Romania — Ukraine”. Within the framework of this program, 18 projects are being implemented in the region, some of them aimed at strengthening cross-border security. In addition, since the Carpathians are one of the leading tourist regions of Ukraine, the implementation of such projects guarantees the personal safety of every tourist who visits the region,” said Andriy Boichuk, Head of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration.
Special equipment purchased through the projects contributes to increasing the efficiency of the units of the National Guard of Ukraine and the Gendarmerie of Romania in the joint fight against cross-border organized crime.
“We have already implemented 2 large-scale projects “Twining” with the Romanian gendarmerie, which resulted in the creation of a unique unit mountain patrol company, whose troops are equipped with all the necessary modern equipment and perform tasks in the mountainous area on the example of our Romanian colleagues, - said the deputy Colonel Serhiy Maltsev, Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Main Directorate of the National Guard of Ukraine.
The current 4 cross-border cooperation projects, which are successfully completed this year, will be extended within the framework of the Ukraine-Romania 2021-2027 program.
