International Scientific and Practical Conference on Community Safety was held in DonDUVS
On July 2, the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Designing the Safe Environment of Communities”, dedicated to the Day of the National Police of Ukraine, took place at Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs. The conference was co-organized by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Donetsk Oblast and Donetsk Regional Research Center of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine. Comprehensive support for the conference was provided by the Consultative Mission of the European Union in Ukraine.
The event was attended by well-known scientists and practitioners, including representatives of higher education institutions and scientific institutions of different regions of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Secretariat of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigations, the Department of Preventive Activities of the National Police of Ukraine, territorial bodies of the National Police, bodies of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, local self-government bodies. Together with Ukrainian scientists and practitioners, representatives of the Consultative Mission of the European Union in Ukraine, the OSCE, the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Ukraine, Mykolas Romeris University (Republic of Lithuania) joined the conference. In total, the conference organizing committee received more than 120 abstracts of reports, including 18 doctors of science and 56 candidates of sciences.
Rector of Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs Serhiy Vitvitskyi, Head of the Main Department of the National Police in Donetsk Oblast Mykola Semenyshyn, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to Ukraine Marek Shafin, Senior Advisor on Prosecution issues addressed to the participants of the event with welcoming words Iouni Lekhtimaki, Deputy Head of the Mariupol District State Administration Oleksiy Vorobyov, Deputy Head of the Mariupol District State Administration in Ukraine, Deputy Mayor of Mariupol Arkady Meshkov, Head of Donetsk Regional Scientific Center of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Academician of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine Antonina Bobkova, Head of the OSCE Mariupol Office Lachesar Lazarov.
During the professional discussion, the participants of the conference discussed topical issues of the activities of the National Police, other executive bodies, local self-government bodies, civil society institutions regarding the formation of safe living conditions of territorial communities. During the discussions, special attention was paid to highlighting the positive experience of the Donetsk police on the implementation in cooperation with local self-government bodies, regional state administration and representatives of the public sector of a number of projects and programs of safety direction, including, in particular, the projects “Safe House”, “Taxi”, creation of a modern security complex — the Unified Analytical Service Center (UASC), regional programs for the prevention of offenses to combat the spread of drug addiction, the fight against the illegal trafficking of drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors, programs for the prevention of offenses among children, etc.

According to the results of the conference, the participants developed a number of proposals and recommendations on improving the legislation and law enforcement practice on the issues of ensuring the security of communities.
