In Chernihiv, police seized an arsenal of rifled weapons and explosive items
Yesterday, criminal police officers and investigators of the Chernihiv Regional Police Department with the involvement of a dog handler conducted an authorized search in the garage premises of one of the city's auto cooperatives. Removed 40 objects — from hand grenades to machine guns.
The search took place in fulfillment of the decision of the Desnyansky District Court of the city. Chernihiv in the framework of the investigation of criminal proceedings opened in the summer of this year under Part 1 of Art. 263-1 (Illegal manufacture, processing or repair of firearms, illegal manufacture of military supplies, explosives or explosive devices) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
According to the operational information available from the police, the person involved in the proceedings has equipped a workshop in the garage, but not for car repairs. There, the 56-year-old Chernigov was engaged in the processing and reequipment of weapons. He also restored the combat qualities of small arms, processed at the factory into mass-sized models.
During the investigation in two garage rooms, the police found 40 objects that looked like firearms and explosive ammunition. Among them, in particular, hand grenades, various mines, disposable grenade launchers of a number of models, one rifle and several Mosin carbines, five SVT rifles, Degtyarev hand machine guns, Kalashnikov assault rifles, PPS machine guns, two machine guns Lemons.
All listed items were seized by the police and sent for examination to the Research Expert and Forensic Center in Chernihiv region.
A pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The defendant faces punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
