A criminal group whose participants seized state funds will appear before the court in Chernihiv
The former head of the Department of Capital Construction of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration organized the illegal activity. The official also involved two managers and an accountant of the entities under his control.
Investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police, under the operational support of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the Chernihiv region and the procedural leadership of the Office of the Prosecutor General, submitted to the court the indictment against the participants of the group.
The police found that in 2017, the then head of the Department of Capital Construction of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration, in order to seize state funds in large and especially large sizes, created a stable association. The composition at different times included two managers and an accountant of the entities controlled by him.
In the period from 2017 to 2019, the participants of the organized group seized state funds in a particularly large amount. The attackers entered knowingly false information into official documents regarding the volumes and cost of works performed on construction sites, the customer of which was the Department of Capital Construction of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration.
Currently, a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings under Part 5 of Art. 191 (Appropriation, squandering of property or possession of it by abuse of official position), Part 3 of Art. 28 (Committing a crime by a group of persons, a group of persons by prior conspiracy, organized group or criminal organization) and Part 2 of Art. 366 (Official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is completed. The indictment is sent to court.
The accused faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Recall: in the fall of 2020, the deputy head of the department of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration, three directors and the accountant of commercial structures were notified of suspicion of committing criminal offenses stipulated in part 5 of article 191, part 3 of article 28 part 2 of article. 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
