Tetiana Kovalchuk took part in high-level debates of the UN General Assembly
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Tetiana Kovalchuk made a video appeal on the topic of combating crime in cities.
In her speech, the Deputy Minister highlighted strategic topics that form the emphasis in the Ministry's work on urban security. Among the priorities: the project “Community Police Officer” and work on the Ukrainian “Smart City” — a system for fixing administrative offenses in automatic mode.
“Over the past two years, community police officers have shown their effectiveness, gaining about 70% of the trust of local residents. And 30 thousand video surveillance cameras are already involved in the system of fixing administrative offenses “Smart City”, of which almost 3.3 thousand are endowed with recognition functionalities,” said Tatiana Kovalchuk.
Also among the priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, according to the Deputy Minister, the fight against organized crime, illegal migration and trafficking in human beings, as well as the fight against drug crime.
“Our Ministry implements a comprehensive and sound policy to prevent crime and comprehensively address such factors contributing to crime, in cooperation with all stakeholders, including civil society, while closely adhering to the principles of UN General Assembly Resolution 75/196,” she said.
