The desire to take a photo on the Ternopil pond almost turned into a tragedy for two women. Near the shore, one of them fell under the ice, the other also did not hold up and fell into the water. A policeman who was nearby rushed to their aid.

The incident happened on Saturday, March 27, at about 5 p.m. That day, the investigator of the Shumsky police department Nikolai Pylypiuk and his wife walked along the embankment of the Ternopil pond. The man saw a woman fall under the ice near the shore, the other was also in the water. The police lieutenant, without hesitation, rushed to help them get out of the ice trap.

- I noticed how the young woman was in the water, the older one rushed to save her, could not resist and fell. There was no time for reflection, I was afraid that the woman with her head would not go under the water and begin to pull it out.

The prompt and timely response of the police helped prevent the tragedy. Ternopil journalist Boris Mashlyanka witnessed the incident. He says that there were many people on the embankment that day, and only a young man reacted quickly. “The boy turned out to be physically fit, pulled the women out of the water in one movement

and saved their lives.

The place where women failed is covered with thin ice. Ternopolyanin Vladimir Simir, who often fishes on the pond, suggests that there was an ice hole and women did not notice it. The man urges people not to go out on the deceptive ice. - The ice is now very dangerous, so do not go out on it,

- notes the fisherman. Nikolai Pylypiuk has been working in the police for three years.

He does not consider his act special. Surely, in his place everyone would do the same. For the courage shown, the leadership of the National Police of Ternopil region decided to reward the policeman. Rescuers will also note it.
