Ternopil law enforcement officers detained a man for resisting and causing bodily harm to a police officer while performing his official duties

A 34-year-old resident of the Chortkiv district is charged with Part 1 of Article 342 (resistance to a law enforcement officer) and Part 2 of Article 345 (intentional infliction of light or moderate bodily injuries to a law enforcement officer) of the Criminal Code. In addition, an administrative protocol was drawn up for the man for driving while intoxicated.

On December 23, at about 21 o'clock, during the service, the officers of the response group of the patrol police of the Chortkiv district police department noticed a car moving through the pedestrian part of the district center square. The police stopped the violator. However, he refused to communicate and did not want to get out of the car. For 20 minutes, the law enforcement officers negotiated with the driver, who was with obvious signs of alcohol intoxication. The man nevertheless opened the window of the car and inflicted three blows with a screwdriver on the hand of the patrol inspector.

After that, the police were forced to apply a special tool to the man. The offender was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The violator is a 34-year-old resident of Mazurivka village, Chortkiv district. Last year he was already brought to administrative responsibility for driving while intoxicated.

For driving drunk, a man faces fines, and for resisting a law enforcement officer and intentionally causing him bodily harm, the Criminal Code provides for up to 5 years in prison.
