St. Nicholas in KHNUVS: a holiday for cadets, lyceists and schoolchildren

Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs held festive events on the occasion of St. Nicholas Day. They were attended by cadets, university students, lyceists, schoolchildren, and employees of the educational institution.

First Vice-Rector of the University Dmytro Shvets on behalf of the Rector of Police General of the Third Rank Valery Sokurenko congratulated all those present and noted that, celebrating together, we unite around Ukrainian traditions, cultivate in ourselves and those around us respect for the values of our people, its customs, and for our relatives of the land and of their homeland.

Collectives of artistic performance of the university and faculties prepared a theatrical New Year and Christmas composition for those present. The participants of the artistic performance performed creative numbers and sang famous and favorite Ukrainian songs to everyone.

For students of schools, lyceums, their teachers and parents, an introductory tour of the university was held. Future applicants visited training grounds, shooting ranges, auditoriums, a museum, a multifunctional complex “Dynamo-Arena”. Students also received informative products — booklets, leaflets, newspapers — with detailed information about universities, faculties and specialties.

On behalf of the rector of the University of the Third Rank Police General Valery Sokurenko, First Vice-Rector Dmytro Shvets and Vice-Rector Anatoly Klochko congratulated cadets and students — orphans and children deprived of parental care, on St. Nicholas Day.

Dmytro Shvets stressed that the university management and the rector personally keep control of the issues of their social protection and support, the doors of the offices are always open for communication and discussion of pressing issues. Dmytro Shvets and Anatoly Klochko congratulated young people on New Year and Christmas holidays, wished happiness, health, to be stable and self-confident, to study well and make every effort to become high-class specialists, build a successful career and realize themselves in life. Cadets and students received gifts and sweets.

On the eve of St. Nicholas Day, employees of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Work, representatives of cadet and student self-government and students of the Master's degree program of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs traditionally congratulated the pupils of the sub-chief KZ “Kharkiv Sanatorium Boarding School № 11” of Kharkiv Regional Council.

Children gladly took part in a bright musical and New Year's performance, which created a unique holiday atmosphere and a good mood. Representatives of the police college visited each class of the boarding school, congratulated everyone on the holiday on behalf of the management and trade union organization of the university and presented sweets to the children.

Every year, on the eve of St. Nicholas Day, the Sumy branch of the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs holds charity events “Give the child joy” and “We collect things for the little ones”.

This year was no exception, despite quarantine restrictions, consecration applicants and branch teachers purchased many gifts and goodies for toddlers living in the Sumy Regional Specialized Children's Home.

Representatives of the Sumy branch: leading specialist Anna Mititel, curator of the SF-204 platoon Tsvetana Baranova, head of the student-cadet parliament Marina Gaidar, her deputy Al Khatneh Mesun Moaed and 2nd year cadets Dmitry Starodubets and Dmytro Kononchuk on behalf of the large team of the branch congratulated the little children on the holiday.

“Unfortunately, quarantine restrictions do not allow most applicants for higher education to attend the holiday dedicated to St. Nicholas Day. But we are convinced that in the near future the pandemic will end and we will be able to please children not only with gifts and treats, but also with fun positive games and live communication,” said Anna Mititel and thanked everyone who participated in the action — students, cadets, teachers to the donors and wished that St. Nicholas would fulfill the dreams of all the children on earth.
