The court detained the driver of a minibus who hit two women in the center of Lviv and left the scene of the accident
It was established that the body of one of the victims, a 48-year-old Lviv woman, traveled seven kilometers through the streets of the city.
Recall that the traffic accident occurred on November 20, at about 6 o'clock in the morning, at the intersection of Doroshenko Street and Svobody Avenue in Lviv. As established by law enforcement officers, the driver of the route taxi No. 138 brand “BAZ”, a 47-year-old resident of Lviv, returning from Doroshenko Street to Svobody Avenue, ran into two Lviv women aged 48 and 67, who were moving through a pedestrian crossing.
The driver immediately left the scene of the accident.
As a result of the collision, one woman was thrown onto the carriageway of the road. With bodily injuries, she was taken to a medical facility where she was assisted. The body of another woman was discovered at the final stop of the minibus - on George Washington Street. Nearby, law enforcement officers found the body of a second victim, whose vehicle traveled seven kilometers through the streets of Lviv from the scene of the accident.
The driver was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators of the Criminal Investigation Department in the field of transport of the Lviv region police informed him of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 2 of Art. 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules, which caused the death of the victim) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment — imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of up to three years or without it.
Today, November 22, the court chose the detainee a precautionary measure in the form of detention.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
