Joint border operation “Carpathians — 2021” is gaining momentum
In two weeks, 38 violators, including 23 illegal migrants, and more than 70,000 packs of smuggled cigarettes were detained as part of Operation Carpathians 2021.
Since the beginning of the events, 80 joint border outfits outside the checkpoints have been organized. At the moment, the operation is gaining momentum. The soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine arrive to reinforce the border units of the Chernivtsi detachment. Only last day, 58 boxes of cigarettes were detained at the site of the Chernivtsi border patrol, thanks to the coordinated joint actions of law enforcement officers of Ukraine and Romania.
Recall that the operation is carried out on the initiative of the State Border Service of Ukraine in Chernivtsi, Zakarpattia and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. Its main objective is to prevent and counteract the illegal movement across the state border of illegal migrants, goods and cargo, in particular using unmanned and small aviation.
The operation involved the forces and means of the State Border Service, the National Police, the Security Service, the State Migration Service, the State Customs Service, the Armed Forces, the National Guard and the State Tax Service of Ukraine. There is also interaction and exchange of information with border guards of neighboring countries, in particular with the European Agency “FRONTEX”, Interpol and Europol.
The operation involves a long range of measures both on the border and in the rear areas of Ukraine. We will also note that operational, operational-search and analytical units cooperate closely during this operation. Manned and unmanned aviation, special equipment of the bodies involved in the operation are actively used.
The joint activity of the participants of the operation is aimed not only at the detention of the executors at the border, but also at the detection of all participants of illegal schemes - including the organizers, as well as the identification of places of accumulation of goods, places of stay, employment of illegal migrants, facilities for the production of counterfeit products, etc.
