The attackers prepared for the crime in advance, because they learned that the man was planning to conclude a financial transaction. After waiting for the victim, they ran to him, took away the bag with money and ran away. For their actions, they are threatened with up to thirteen years in prison with confiscation of property.

A man called the special line 102 and reported that on Yevgeny Kharchenko street, unknown people hit him and took away a bag containing almost five million hryvnias. Criminal police officers and an investigative task force immediately arrived at the scene.

According to the head of the criminal police of the Darnytsky police department Igor Padyuk, the victim planned to spend money on buying an apartment, but the attackers found out about it and prepared for the crime in advance. They were waiting for a man, and after what he had done, they fled in a car.

“We carried out a complex of operational-search measures and found out the route of the movement of the vehicle of the offenders. Subsequently, the location of the defendants was established and, with the strong support of the special unit KORD, they were detained in the city of Odessa in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. These are residents of Kyiv and Odesa region, born in 1966 and 1977. One of them has been repeatedly convicted of property crimes. In order to hide the traces of the crime, they even tried to burn their car,” the law enforcement official said.

At the moment, the men have been notified of suspicion under Part 5 of Art. 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court chose a preventive measure for the suspects in the form of detention. They face up to thirteen years in prison with confiscation of property.
