Investigators announced suspicions of four defendants who carried out illegal operations with amber
A pre-trial investigation into the commission of criminal offenses provided for in two articles of the Criminal Code is ongoing.
The investigation established that in the period from January to December 2021, the Volyn citizen organized and established criminal activities - equipped the premises, of which he is a co-owner, for the processing of amber into raw materials, in order to further sell it on the territory of the Volyn region and outside Ukraine. To do this, he attracted three more accomplices who agreed to illegal fishing.
The organized criminal group illegally extracted, processed, stored, transported and sold amber, the legality of the origin of which is not confirmed by the relevant documents.
During the authorized searches in the illegally equipped workshop, about 200 kg of amber in raw materials and decorative elements were discovered and seized. Currently, four defendants, under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office, have been informed of suspicion of being part of an organized criminal group. The issue of choosing preventive measures for them is resolved. Suspicions announced under Part 3 of Article 28 and Part 1 of Art. 240-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Operational support in criminal proceedings is carried out by employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Volyn region.
