Investigators of the National Police exposed the scheme of illegal importation of railway cars from the Russian Federation into Ukraine
More than 600 wagons were imported to Ukraine and registered under forged documents. Illegal transactions are carried out contrary to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 30.12.2015 No. 1147.
During the pre-trial investigation, the Investigative Department of Investigation of Corruption Crimes of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine with the prompt support of the employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police and Proceedings the leadership of the Office of the Prosecutor General exposed the scheme of import into the customs territory of Ukraine in the mode of import of railway cars. Such actions contradict the requirements of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated December 30, 2015 No. 1147 “On the prohibition of import into the customs territory of Ukraine of goods originating from the Russian Federation”. In particular, the resolution provides for a direct ban on the import of railway cars from the Russian Federation into the customs territory of Ukraine.
Law enforcers established that one of the economic entities from the Russian Federation imported into the customs territory of Ukraine more than 600 railway cars, which were subsequently registered on forged documents regarding their origin. In addition, the service life of part of the cars ended in 2020.
Today, April 8, a number of searches were conducted on the territory of Kyiv and Kyiv region, during which documentation on the purchase of railway cars from legal entities and individuals of the Russian Federation and their importation into the customs territory of Ukraine was seized.
Pre-trial investigation is carried out under Part 2 of Art. 364 and Part 2 of Art. 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For the facts of abuse of office and official forgery, the defendants face imprisonment for a term of three to six years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with a fine of five hundred to one thousand non-taxable minimum homes of citizens.
