Investigators of the National Police exposed the illegal seizure of more than UAH 1 million of the company, the founder of which is JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”

Investigators of the Corruption Crimes Investigation Department of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine under the operational support of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police and the procedural guidance of prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General have exposed the fact of seizing funds of one of the joint-stock companies, the founder of which is a Shareholder Society “Ukrzaliznytsia”.
During the pre-trial investigation, the police found that the company's officials, acting in a preliminary conspiracy with the heads of several business entities, purchased at inflated prices components for repairing locomotive speedometers. In addition, the parts purchased were of poor quality and unfit for use. Under this scheme, those involved seized more than a million hryvnias.
Yesterday, May 17, in the city of Kiev, Kiev and Dnipropetrovsk regions, law enforcement officers conducted a number of searches in the office premises of the company, supplier enterprises and places of residence of the defendants. As a result, the documentation on the purchase of components was removed, which confirms the illegal activities of the defendants.
Pre-trial investigation is carried out under Part 5 of Art. 191 (Appropriation, embezzlement of property or possession of it by abuse of official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
The defendants face up to twelve years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years and with confiscation of property.
