Investigators of the National Police sent to the court an indictment against the president of NAAS for obtaining illegal benefits
On two counts of receiving bribes, the accused may face up to 12 years in prison.
Investigators of the Corruption Crimes Investigation Department of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine, under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General and the prompt support of the employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police, completed the pre-trial investigation and sent to the court the indictment in criminal proceedings on the charge of the President of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine in obtaining illegal benefits.
The President of NAAS of Ukraine is accused of receiving improper benefits in the form of free use of an elite car for including the head of one of the structural units of NAAS in the list of applicants to replace vacancies of NAAS academicians and the subsequent transfer of relevant materials for consideration by the NAAS Presidium.
Also, the defendant is accused of extorting illegal benefits in the amount of 4 million hryvnias from one of the economic entities in favor of the controlled enterprise for his failure to commit actions to change the head of one of the state-owned agricultural enterprises that are part of the NAAS structure, as well as providing an opportunity in the further continuation of financial and economic relations between by this economic entity and the specified state enterprise, which were formed on the basis of previously concluded contracts for the provision of services in respect of cultivation of land.
Today, August 27, the indictment against the president of the NAAS is sent to the court.
In accordance with Part 4 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official), he faces punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of eight to twelve years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with the conscription confiscation of property.
