Investigators of the National Police reported on suspicion of the Kiev official in the appropriation of 630 thousand hryvnias belonging to the bank
The head of the capital business entity carried out illegal operations using a POS terminal leased from a state bank. To do this, he used the details of bank cards of foreign citizens. The man was declared a suspect, he faces up to 12 years in prison.
The illegal activity was exposed by the investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police together with employees of the Cyber Police Department.
A 21-year-old resident of the Kiev region was in the position of head of a limited liability company that provides tourist services. The defendant rented a POS terminal from one of the state banks to carry out economic activities. Later, with the help of a remote banking system, the man connected the service “Acquisition”.
After that, using the payment data of clients of foreign financial institutions, he carried out 138 illegal banking transactions. They were carried out without cards and without the knowledge of their owners. Thus, the attacker appropriated 630 thousand hryvnias of the state bank.
Law enforcement officers conducted searches in cars and at the place of residence of the suspect. According to the results of their conduct, the police seized mobile phones, computer equipment, the act of acceptance and transfer of equipment from the bank and documentation.
According to this fact, criminal proceedings were opened under Part 4 of Art. 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 12 years with confiscation of property. At the moment, the defendant has been informed of the suspicion. The question of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is resolved.
