Investigators of the National Police filed a petition to elect the head of the NAAS a precautionary measure in the form of detention
The issue of his removal from the duties of the post will also be resolved. The head of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences is suspected of committing a corruption crime.
Investigators of the Corruption Crime Investigation Department of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine with the operational support of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine, the procedural leadership of the Office of the Prosecutor General filed a petition to the court to elect the director of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine's precautionary measure in the form of detention and removal of him from office.
The head of the NAAS of Ukraine is suspected of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In particular, the director contributed to the appointment of the head of one of the state-owned enterprises that are part of the NAAS of Ukraine. In turn, the newly appointed head should not prevent the conclusion of joint activity agreements between the state-owned enterprise and specifically defined economic entities.
Also, law enforcement officers found that the suspect contributed to the inclusion of the same person in the list of applicants for the replacement of vacancies of academicians and the subsequent transfer of relevant materials for consideration by the Presidium of NAAS. For his help, the defendant received a “thank you” - an elite SUV.
For accepting an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official, a suspect is threatened with imprisonment for a period of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with confiscation of property.
Recall: in November 2020, investigators of the National Police exposed the heads of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine in embezzlement and appropriation of property.
