Serhiy Yarovyi: Emergency rescue workers hold leading positions in the rating of citizens' trust
Today, May 28, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine held a meeting with heads of territorial units, during which the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Serhiy Yarovyi and the leadership of the State Emergency Situations discussed the state of response to emergencies and dangerous challenges during the first quarter of 2021.
Serhiy Yarovyi noted that the SNS has great potential and the pace at which the provision of units throughout Ukraine is improving should only increase.
“It is impossible not to see how the philosophy and general approach to the issue of personnel provision and re-equipment of units with new equipment have changed recently. We see positive changes and this helps you to perform the tasks in the response areas and provide assistance in the quality”, - said the First Deputy Minister.
He also noted that rescuers continue to hold leadership positions in the rating of citizens' trust in public institutions and stressed that as the bathing season approaches, given the challenges ahead, it is necessary to intensify work with citizens to prevent tragic events on the water.
In turn, the head of the State Emergency Service Nikolai Chechotkin agreed with the opinion of the First Deputy Minister on the need to constantly study and draw conclusions.
“From each event, from each emergency, we have to draw conclusions that in the future will allow not only to work more effectively in a specific such case, but also to prevent it,” added Nikolai Chechotkin.
First Deputy Chairman of the State Emergency Service Oleg Melchutsky reported on the results of the work for the specified period. He noted that the number of classified emergencies increased by 33.3% compared to last year.
“Every day the units of the Service eliminated about 170 fires. During this time, 568 people were saved in the fires and 6, 500 buildings and 530 units of equipment were prevented by fire,” Oleg Melchutsky reported.
Regarding the implementation of tasks in the east of Ukraine: in the first quarter, more than 8,300 GNP were neutralized in the area of the PLO and 350 hectares of territory were cleared. As part of the humanitarian demining of the country's territory, more than 10 thousand GNP were neutralized, and the area of the cleared territory amounted to 470 hectares.
According to the results of the meeting, the Chairman of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine determined further priority tasks for the next quarter. In particular, we are talking about measures to combat fires in ecosystems, readiness of units in case of complication of the military-political situation, continuation of tasks in the area of the Joint Forces. In this matter, Nikolai Chechotkin drew the attention of unit leaders to provide security for personnel involved in the restoration of destroyed housing in front-line settlements and demining.
Also, Nikolai Chechotkin recalled the importance of vaccination of rescuers from Covid-19, emphasizing the strengthening of work with the population to prevent accidents on water bodies.
