Rescuers extinguished the fire on the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra
Today at 13:45 in Pechersk district of the capital on ul. Lavrskaya, 9-21 On the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, a fire broke out in the two-story building of building number 68 on the second floor, where the icon painting workshop is located. The fire spread to the roof.
At 14:37 the fire was localized on an area of 100 sq.m. At 14:45 - liquidated.
55 people and 13 SNSS technicians were involved in the extinguishing.
“Thanks to the professional work of rescuers, the National Emergency Service managed to save our cultural heritage from the large-scale spread of the fire. Recently, thanks to the forces of the Service, it was possible to cope with the least consequences with the fire in the Roman Catholic Church of St. Nicholas. The work of rescuers again makes it clear how necessary it is and, in fact, invaluable,” said First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Yevgeny Yenin.
